| Welcome to the website of Heirloom Quilting Designs, founded by Joanie Zeier Poole, an award-winning quilt maker, teacher, graphic designer and author. If you share a passion for machine quilting, you have come to the right place! This website introduces this inspiring entrepreneur and tells the story of how she built this career. Using Heirloom Machine Quilting techniques on a regular sewing machine, Joanie has created quilts (in the Gallery) that are receiving awards at national competitions. Learn about her Workshops and Lectures, and read a review of her Books. View her elegant designs for quilting, appliqué and embroidery displayed throughout this website and on the Products page. In addition, find information about shows, what’s new in the quilting world, as well as Tips and Tricks for machine quilting. So, bookmark this page and return often for updates on where you can meet Joanie, and see her quilts.
Book News!My newest book, Joanie’s Quilting Elements - Seven Simple Steps to Navigate and Stitch is available. It is a companion to Joanie’s Design Elements and is packed with beneficial information for understanding everything you need to know BEFORE you sit down to machine quilt. Read all the details on the Books page.
Joanie traveled to La Veta, Colorado to record a segment on THE QUILT SHOW with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. Her episode is number 509. To sign up for the internet TV Show go to www.thequiltshow.com. Quilts on the goFais de Beaux rêves, To Have and To Hold and La Petite II have all been invited to be displayed in the exhibit of Contemporary Broidery Perse at the National Quilt Museum, Paducah Kentucky from November 19, 2010 through February 15, 2011. The exhibit displays outstanding examples combining collage, fine appliqué, and fine quilting, broderie perse - also known as cut-out chintz appliqué. This artwork “presents a high point in the art of quiltmaking and deserves the admiration and attention of all who appreciate fine needlework” says curator, Anita Loscalzo. New Patterns, Classes & QuiltsJoanie added two new quilting designs collections, The Acanthus Collection and The Bunny Hutch and Little Quackers Too! to the offerings on the products page. Check out the two new classes Joanie has developed, Background Bonanza and The Secret Voice Hidden in your Fabric. Both are full-day hands-on workshops and include the essentials for free-motion quilting. Springtime Duet, First of Many is the first collaboration between Joanie and Pam Levenhagen who hand painted fabric that Joanie quilted. |
