My newest book, Joanie’s Quilting Elements - Seven Simple Steps to Navigate and Stitch is available. It is a companion to Joanie’s Design Elements and is packed with beneficial information for understanding everything you need to know BEFORE you sit down to machine quilt. New Patterns & Classes
Joanie has added two new quilting designs collections, Free-form Fillers and Formal Fillers, to her line of pattern packets described on the Products page. These intriguing collections offer numerous “easy to sew” background fillers, some based on marked line, circle or grid and others that are more random and not marked at all.
Joanie has opened her teaching to an entire new group of students with hands-on workshops geared to free-motion wannabes who do not think they are ready to take the plunge into refined free-motion. Coffee Break: Fast, Fused and Fun Free-motion quilting, and Sassy Sewing Tool Caddy, both 3 hr workshops offer a quick project and Joanie’s instructions that will get you free-motion quilting without any worries.
Two more classes highlight filling the background with texture; Stitcher Doodles; From Pencil Sketch to Stitching Line, a 3 hr drawing class and, Fabulous Filler Wholecloth Christmas Stocking; a 6 hr hands-on background filler workshop.
And, now you can learn the entire foundation for refined free-motion quilting from the marking and basting, to all the Free-mo basics in Home for the Holidays; a 6 hr workshop to create a group of holiday decor items, or, Ho-Ho-Ho, a 3 hr refined free-motion workshop featuring a Christmas Stocking with quilted cuff. Each presentation has a PowerPoint with beautiful photographs and informative illustrations so everyone in the room can see examples and hear explanations of the topic.
