Welcome
to the gallery of Heirloom Machine Quilted artwork by Joanie Zeier Poole.
These are just some of the many quilts created since Joanie learned
to use her home sewing machine for refined free-motion quilting. See
for yourself that it is possible to quilt large quilts on a regular machine;
achieving intricate and rewarding results. Combining refined free-motion techniques with her elegant style, rich fabrics, lightweight thread,
and the perfect batting, Joanie sculpts patchwork and appliqué canvasses with original illustrations
and background textures. Current work focuses on including narrative images into the design of quilts
that evoke an emotional connection with viewers. Images collected and stylized into stitchable outlines
create messages for the viewer to read. Quilted initials, dates are used to dedicate work to special
people and events. The unusual trellis, checkerboard and basket weave background textures are Joanie’s personal signature. Please come in and enjoy the photographs. The quilts are listed in chronological order, beginning
with the most recent work. Read the stories of how the quilts were constructed and about the life
experiences and relationships they represent. Awards earned at quilt competitions are included To navigate the gallery, simply click on any photo to open a new page detailing each quilt. When
