Through Heirloom Quilting Designs, Joanie offers an extensive portfolio of original designs for quilting, appliqué, and embroidery. Joanie wins at AQS Paducah

Joanie's quilt, Lea's Choice, was awarded 2nd Place, Appliquê, Large Quilts at the American Quilter's Society Show award ceremony in Paducah Kentucky. Joanie was there to accept the award and greet many viewers at the annual show. She was interviewed by the Quilt Channel which could be seen on local T.V. during the event. International Quilt Market and Festival in Houston was the site of the release of the latest of Joanie's Options Interchangeable Stencils. Fais de beaux rêves” (Sweet Dreams) was awarded 2ns Place Merit Machine Quilting in the contest in Houston. It will be part of the IQA Judged Show Winners exhibit in at the International Quilt Festival/Chicago April 11-13, 2008, Donald E. Stephens Center, Rosemont, Illinois.

Joanie Zeier Poole

Award-winning quilt artist, Joanie Zeier Poole is a teacher, lecturer, designer, and author who creates intricate and unique quilted artwork. She has studied studio art, interior design and most recently, computer graphics, earning a degree in Graphic Design in 2003. She is a graphic designer who is passionate about quilts.

Using the refined free-motion techniques of Heirloom Machine Quilting, along with her elegant style, Joanie has produced quilts which are receiving awards at national competitions. Combining rich fabrics, lightweight thread, and the perfect batting, she sculpts patchwork and appliqué canvasses with original illustrations and background textures with a home sewing machine. These quilts can be viewed in the gallery pages of this site and at major quilt shows across the country.  Gallery

Joanie offers classes and lectures that educate and encourage students to elevate their standards for their work. Her goal is to affect future quilting experiences by advising with innovative ideas and tips gathered over the past quarter century.

Joanie is chosen as a Bernina National Teacher

Joanie was among 20 teachers from the U.S. to be chosen as a National Teacher by Bernina of America in 2005. Every aspect of sewing is represented by this group that gathers once a year to discuss how the sewing machine is used in various aspects of the industry.

BERNINA Teacher Reunion, Steckborn, Switzerland

Joanie was among a group of educators from the quilting and textile industry to attend a conference at the BERNINA factory. Events included research and development with factory staff, interaction with quilters from Germany and Switzerland, touring a textile museum, thread factory and folk museum, sightseeing the beautiful landscape, and enjoying the camaraderie with the industries foremost educators.

Harriet Hargrave Machine Quilting Celebration

Joanie Zeier Poole has been a faculty member at the Harriet Hargrave Machine Quilting Celebration. Workshops are offered by some of the best instructors in traditional machine quilting arts. This conference is devoted solely to the home sewing machine quilter. Joanie offered instruction in planning quilts with an emphasis on using quilted imagery to express your personal story.
