Career HighlightsJoanie Zeier PooleAward-winning quilt artist, Joanie Zeier Poole is a teacher, lecturer, designer, and author who creates intricate and unique quilted artwork. She has studied studio art, interior design and most recently, computer graphics, earning a degree in Graphic Design in 2003. She is a graphic designer who is passionate about quilts. Using the refined free-motion techniques of Heirloom Machine Quilting, along with her elegant style, Joanie has produced quilts which are receiving awards at national competitions. Combining rich fabrics, lightweight thread, and the perfect batting, she sculpts patchwork and appliqué canvasses with original illustrations and background textures with a home sewing machine. BERNINA Teacher Reunion, Steckborn, SwitzerlandJoanie was among a group of educators from the quilting and textile industry to attend a conference at the BERNINA factory. Events included research and development with factory staff, interaction with quilters from Germany and Switzerland, touring a textile museum, thread factory and folk museum, sightseeing the beautiful landscape, and enjoying the camaraderie with the industries foremost educators.
